ASPECTS OF GLORY

Adrian Leak’s new book (to be published in the Spring 2025) is a collection of brief essays and is not intended to be read as a single work, but to be dipped into from time to time. To be sipped, not quaffed.

Part 1 (Glimpses of Glory) contains reflections, some prompted by daily encounters, others less haphazard in their origin. As St Paul put it, in this life we cannot see God face to face, but only catch glimpses of glory, seen dimly as in a mirror.

Part 2 (Aspects of Glory) comprises meditations on famous paintings of the life of Christ. The pictures referred to can be accessed online by the reader, following the links provided.

Part 3  discusses the history of the Collect, a form of prayer, which follows the pattern established in the sixth century and still in use in our parish churches today.

Part 4  presents a gallery of worthies, not all Anglican, and some better known than others. Taken together, they form a portrait gallery of the Church of England, showing how she has come to be the way she is. Our faith is derived from Jesus Christ and from his first disciples, who lived on earth 2,000 years ago. We carry within ourselves their spiritual DNA – and not only theirs, but also that of our more recent forebears. At the same time, we look forward to the day when a younger generation will carry the Gospel into tomorrow’s world.
